Problems Running the Calculator?

U.S.Air Force

If you're having problems running the calculator once you download it, try one of these solutions. These have been the most common problems and most are an easy fix.

These examples are for Excel 2000 but should be very similar for Excel 97. I haven't tried this on Excel 2002 or XP.

The file won't open when I try to run it.

You must have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer. This program is an Excel spreadsheet and cannot run by itself. If you don't have Excel, you can't run the calculator.

You can open the file but get the following message when you try to use the calculator:

Follow the directions below to Enable Macros.

Most likely you have Macro Security set to high. Excel automatically disables all macros in the spreadsheet. Do the following to change this: Select Tools, Macro, Security. Select Medium. (See next question below.)

Follow these steps to change your Excel security to Medium and enable your macros.

By setting your security to Medium, you will be prompted for the box in the next question below.

Every time I open the calculator, I'm prompted with this box. What do I select?

When you first open the file, Excel pops up a box asking if you want to Enable Macros. You must select "Enable Macros" for this program to work.

You must enable macros in Excel for this program to run properly
